--CF Shane Victorino bruised his left knee on the turf while making a diving catch in center field on July 29 in Arizona. It's still bothering him. Victorino left Saturday night's game in the ninth inning, didn't play Sunday in the Phillies' 4-3 loss at Minute Maid Park, and according to manager Charlie Manuel, may not be in the lineup for Monday's series finale either. "If his leg is bothering him, we don't want to play somebody that's hurt," Manuel said. "We don't want you out there hobbling around. If you're hobbling around and you can't help us, you're not going to play." Victorino has experienced swelling in his knee and had it drained twice last week, Manuel said. The persistent knee problem likely is a contributing factor to a 2-for-25 slump that has dropped Victorino's average to .296, the lowest it has been since July 2. "Not talking about it," Victorino said. "You'll see me out there." But when? Asked if he thinks Victorino may miss only a game or two, Manuel said, "Not really." --RHP Kyle Kendrick and OF John Mayberry Jr. joined the Phillies in Houston on Sunday after being recalled from Class AAA Lehigh Valley. Kendrick went 9-7 with a 3.34 ERA in 24 starts for Lehigh Valley, while Mayberry batted .256 with 13 homers and 43 RBIs. It's not certain if the Phillies will call up other players after the IronPigs' season ends Monday, although RHP Andrew Carpenter and RHP Rodrigo Lopez are possibilities because they're already on the 40-man roster.
BY THE NUMBERS: 10 -- Blown saves for closer Brad Lidge through Sep. 6. Through Sunday, Lidge led the majors in blown saves and had the most in a season since Jason Isringhausen in 2006.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "These guys have been doing it all year. I'm not just going to walk in there and go, 'Hey you, sit down. This inning's mine.' That's not how it works. I'm just back there to help. I'm not there to take anybody's spot, for sure." -- RHP Brett Myers, who returned to the Phillies bullpen last week after undergoing hip surgery June 5.
